(Awarded as first place at the 220/20 Binghatti Photography Award)

Masshouse is proud to share that our Managing Director, Shoayb Khattab, has been awarded first place in the third edition of the 200/20 Binghatti Photography Competition. This prestigious event celebrates the art of architectural photography, spotlighting work that captures the spirit and innovation of Binghatti’s landmark buildings.

200/20 Binghatti Photography Award

Binghatti is known for its bold and distinctive architectural designs, with striking geometric forms and facades that blend modern innovation with cultural heritage. This year’s 200/20 Binghatti Photography Award challenged photographers to capture the essence of these architectural features, encouraging a creative interpretation that went beyond simple documentation to tell a story.

Shoayb’s winning photograph captured this vision beautifully. Taken at sunrise on a foggy morning, the image shows a Binghatti tower emerging from the mist, perfectly aligned with the rising sun. This stunning composition highlighted the harmony between light, timing, and architectural form, creating a surreal yet design-driven scene that perfectly showcased Binghatti’s unique architectural language.

Behind the Lens Preparation and Adaptation

The winning image came as the result of meticulous preparation, but also thanks to the unexpected arrival of the fog season. In the weeks leading up to the competition, Shoayb Khattab carefully studied Binghatti’s architecture, identifying potential shooting locations, considering both wide and close-angle compositions, and even renting apartments within Binghatti’s towers to secure optimal vantage points.

When the fog season arrived, Shoayb’s adaptability became key. He quickly adjusted his approach, using the changing atmosphere to his advantage. The resulting photograph is a perfect balance of preparation, intuition, and timing. It captured a rare moment that couldn’t happen again.

Celebrating Innovation Through Photography

Binghatti’s architectural identity is defined by its commitment to narrative design. The competition recognized work that honors this philosophy while offering new perspectives on how architecture can be visually experienced. Shoayb’s photograph brought that vision to life, showing how a single frame can express the depth and dynamism of a built environment.

The award ceremony was hosted by Dubai Design District (D3) with the support of Dubai Culture. The event gathered leaders across design, architecture, and photography to honor creative excellence. Shoayb’s win adds another milestone to the ongoing dialogue between form, emotion, and visual storytelling.

A Moment of Recognition and Reflection

At Masshouse, we believe that powerful visuals do more than capture beauty. They communicate intent, inspire curiosity, and deepen our understanding of design. Shoayb’s achievement reflects our studio’s philosophy of thoughtful visual storytelling and our ongoing pursuit of meaningful creative work.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Shoayb Khattab for this outstanding recognition. As we continue to explore the relationship between architecture and visual mediums, we remain committed to producing work that not only highlights the built world but invites people to see it differently.
